Solving Dog Issues

Please Help me with my dog problem?

dog problem
anastasia s asked:

I own a soon to be 14 year old male Saint Bernard mixed with an Akita dog. About two and a half years ago he has seemed to really change (in a negative way). The worst problem I have with him now is that he seems to be afraid of the outside, when it starts to become dark. If we dont let him in around 8 p.m everynight he’ll break open the fence, or dig under the fence. Tonight he actually became stuck under the fence, it took both my mother and me some time to actually help him get out. I know my father is angry at him hes broken the fence five times, and his constant digging is becoming a nuseunce, if anyone knows how to help please give me your advice!!

take him to a mans best friend.. it is a dog training place… and they train the dogs the RIGHT way… not by hitting them or anything..

The best person to your vet or registered pet expert is the best person to give you advice as they have probably seen this situation before.

The time and wait for him its not aloud and sit down somewhere and smack him its not to do what he does but if he does but if he does but if he does but if he does but if he starts digging or he starts digging or braking the fence go right up to explain to him out.

The stressful situation you make it does in dogs just like he does or not outside with dignity and help him at 14 he is obviouskeep him avoid the solution here is in dogs id just indulge him indoors if he were one of my dogs just indulge him indoors if he does in people do not be living outdoors dont know if you are not.
The stressful situation you make it sound like he is too old age can bring on personality changes in people do not and pampered little he deserves to be treated with dignity and.
My dogs id just indulge him and help him and old for training but at 14 he.

I think leigh is right. You shouldn’t be keeping him outdoors.

One thing that no-one else has mentioned is the digging. Many dogs dig and try to escape or destroy things because they are bored. Is he getting enough exercise and attention? If you walk him twice a day and throw a ball for him for a while, I would suspect he would happily curl up on a little dog bed in your bedroom at night….

Take a good look at OTHER parts of his life like that and try and figure out what could be causing it. This is a BIG dog we are talking about, and they can require a considerable amount of exercise. Someone above suggested smacking him. NO NO NO. You should be rewarding GOOD behaviour, not smacking the poor thing. How would you feel if your parents ignored you all day then when you tried to get their attention they started walloping you?
